Well, well , well...we finally made it to the 27th of January--Happy Birthday Grandaddy ;-)--and Miss Lailah is not here! So for all of you who voted she would not be on time, pat yourselves on the back! I must admit I had nooooooo faith that she would be here today, although it would have been nice! Nonetheless we're happy and healthy and eventually SHE WILL BE HERE!
I went to the hospital last night (don't laugh, I'm a first timer)because I hadn't felt the baby move all day..or if she had I was sleep and never knew.So rather than call my Auntie C (which I should have done) I called my doctor, went to the hospital, got hooked up to the machines, to discover SHE WAS FINE! I suppose I'm just becoming anxious. So I came home, talked to my aunt who made me feel MUCH better, ate some ice cream and an apple and went to sleep.
At our doctor's appt last week the midwife guessed LAH weighs about 7lbs..maybe I'll start another poll and see what others think.Other than that it was a pretty routine visit, nothing special. The real visit will be this coming Wednesday--to see if I've dialated any.
Soooooo....for now, no Lailah, but we'll see what happens in the next few days. Wish us luck!
Oooooooo....Miss Lailah did get a present this week from Great Aunt Chelette. A beautiful HAND KNIT blanket. Here it is
I also wanted to share a few pictures of Lailah's first cousin William Hayes Jr. He just turned 6 months, and is as cute as a button. He's crawling now, has two teeth, and into everything!

Waiting...
I haven't blogged in about a week, so I thought today I'd give a little update. We had a doctor's appointment on this past Wednesday and Dr.Khan said everything is going well--now we just have to wait! She looked over my file and said that I did well this whole pregnancy, the baby's heart beat has been strong and steady, and a healthy baby should be coming "any day now" to show for it. Well I sure wish she wouldn't have confidently said "any day now"! Every slight cramp I get in my stomach I'm thinking is going to be the start of a series of contractions--NOT THE CASE!Nonetheless I have been enjoying the abundance of sleep I've been getting. And although I am ecstatic to meet my little one and start motherhood--I think I'm really going to miss being pregnant. It has been an amazing experience, one that I believe (at the right time) everyone who is blessed to experience should be grateful. Not to mention--people are soooo nice to preggos! I'll be back in a few days with another update and some more picss.

Progress
So....Today is Friday the 11th, and still things are not in order. However I am thrilled to report that PROGRESS IS BEING MADE! The crib and bassinet were put together on Wednesday, and today clothes have been washed and folded! This may seem like nothing to some, but I feel like a great deal has been accomplished.I've started to assemble the organizing cart, but seem to have misplaced the screwdriver :-/.Nonetheless, I feel confident that by Wednesday (that's when Dad comes back)everything will be in place.I'm still waiting on the "burst" of energy to kick in, because more often than not I find myself sleeping, sleeping, and more sleeping.Although that could be because I'm awakened every morning at about 4:30..that's when Miss Lailah gets the wiggles--til about 7am!!! I guess that's God's way of getting me ready for those middle of the night feedings. I don't want to sit for too long, there's more to be done in the room. And once night falls, which is in about 2 hours...I'll be done for the day!So here are some photos of the progress...

Nesting
So I've been reading my book "What to Expect When You're Expecting"
and there's a whole section on nesting. Basically explaining the pregnant woman's need to clean up, straighten, or get organized..usually occurring shortly before labor. My aunts also mentioned getting everything together before D Day. So that's what I've been trying to do...get organized. I have all the ingredients :furniture, clothes, diapers, pacifiers--the whole nine yards! What I don't have is the momentum! I try to do a little everyday..but it seems like I am getting nowhere! I would like to unpack the things we got at the baby shower..but there's nowhere to put them. And if "nesting" is an indication of labor being near, then I need to get on the ball! Let me show you just what it looks like..

My Inspiration
Hello...this blog spot is inspired by Miss Lailah A. Hayes (the one in the belly). However it was my Auntie C who put me on to the world of blogging. Although I am documenting a little late..9 months late to be exact, there's no better time like the present. In a few weeks I'll have some pics of LAH..Lailah Alease Hayes. For now I have a few pictures from my baby shower. We had so much fun..good friends, good food, good laughs.
I'm kind of at a loss for words (a rare occasion),I guess I'm just not really sure what to "blog" about. Hmmmm....well let's see. Like I said before, I'm 9 months pregnant with what they tell me should come out a girl...but we'll see. LOL. I've known since the beginning of June. I was overwhelmed at the thought at first--but quickly became excited about the path my life was taking me down. So then came the morning..I mean ALL DAY sickness, which stopped right after my Miami trip in August.
Then I went back to school at Delaware State University to finish out the fall semester. As the months passed by, the more I grew. I think it was around early October when I began to feel little flutters in my tummy...and before I knew it the flutters had turned into vigorous kicks and punches. It was November when we found out we were expecting a girl, none other than LAH! Of course the moment of truth comes when the Doctor officially says "it's a girl", but for the record..I was saying it all along. Omar(that's Dad) and I even had a bet..still waiting on my fortune!
In December I moved off campus into a 3 bedroom house with my mom. Once the house is FULLY together, I'll get some pics up. Anyway...December flew by and the tummy continued to grow. We had a nice, quiet Christmas in PA, and ended our month with a beautiful baby shower in D.C. We had a blast...we played games, ate good food, and were blessed with EVERYTHING Miss LA needs to start off life.
Now it's January..and the countdown has officially begun. My tummy has reached maximum capacity and I'm becoming anxious more and more each day...
